Cruelty Free Beauty Faves and a Cool App!

I have been wanting to do this post for a long time, and I decided that it was finally time to make it happen.

Living a cruelty-free lifestyle is very important to me.  I am a bit of a hypocrite, as I do eat fish and crustaceans.  My rule is that if I can pet it, I can't eat it.  I extended this last year to banning octopus from my diet, as my fellow pescetarian bestie and I decided that they were too smart to be eaten.  I won't go into my struggles of being with a carnivore boyfriend here...

I still wear some leather shoes and purses (most old/vintage), but I actively try to buy alternatives and I have been pretty successful in not buying any new leather products.  That is for another post.

The one area where I can easily commit to be cruelty free with zero style sacrifices is beauty.  With the advances in science creating human tissue and skin and all of the other animal free testing measures, there is NO EXCUSE to buy products still tested on animals.

Here are some of my favorite cruelty free beauty products:
Amongst The Waves Perfume Oil
Olivine Atelier - Amongst the Waves Perfume Oil
Veil Fluid Makeup | Vegan Liquid Foundation
Hourglass Cosmetics Veil Foundation
Infusion de Rose Nourishing Crème
Infusion de Rose Nourishing Crème
BY TERRY Rose GRAIN DE ROSE - Resurfacing Micro-Scrub Mask

Eye Do Mascara
Eyeko Eye Do Mascara
Micellar Foaming Cleanser, Make-up remover 5.0 FL.OZ, Facial Cleanser
Nuxe Rose Micellar Foaming Cleanser- also available at Target
Color Pinch Cream Blusher
Beautycounter Color Pinch Cream Blusher
Daddy-O
I have been using the Cruelty Cutter app for a while now- both for purchasing cosmetics and cat food.  It is extremely helpful.   You scan the barcode on the product, and the app tells you whether or not it's cruelty free!  Some lesser known brands don't scan, but the big ones do, and it's an awakening on who is cruelty free and who is not.

Is there a cruelty free product that you love?  If so, let me know!

Friday Finds 7/22/16 - Chatham Visit and A Few Picks

Happy Friday!

I have been going back and forth to the Cape, as my family is there.  Between work and showings, it's been nuts.

We spent the day in Chatham, which is somewhat of a tradition.

We met at the Chatham Bars Inn for lunch.  Despite driving past, I had never (GASP) gone inside.
Main house view.
View from the main building out to sea.
Steps to the main building.
We met at the Beach House Grill, for a very leisurely lunch.
Lobster and kale salad with grilled peaches
After lunch, I snapped a few beach pics.  Lighthouse Beach was packed, so I did not get to explore further.
Seasalt dress and scarf selfie.
Chatham Bars Inn beach.
Lighthouse beach- no parking, so snapped this from a distance.

I found lots of goodies in town, which is no surprise as it caters to the preppy.

At $70, a little pricey, at Chatham Clothing Bar.  But I appreciate the concept!

Dress by Katherine's Way- $195- really?  At Island Pursuit.

Great shirt by Chatham & Ivy, available at Island Pursuit or here.

Adorable Pearl headed octopus pendant at Yankee Ingenuity.  The price is right!  I am on a jewelry hold right now, but far be it from me to deny anyone.
Adorable print by Petit Peony (love that name) at Minnows and Guppies!
I love this version- it's reversible!
